Why All Natural

Hi Friends,

Is there such a thing as all natural products? There is a huge speculation as to if you can possibly have all natural in today's market. Due to the fact that most company's still use chemicals and alcohol to get the consistency that consumers are so used to having.  Most all natural and unprocessed or heated products, do not look the same or function the same as chemically enhanced formulas.

Now lets answer the question... What is all natural?

Definition of Natural is: "Existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind."
-Webster Dictionary

The FDA does not have a definition for All Natural because they believe from a food science perspective, everything has been processed and no longer is the product of the earth.

Further more most products have to be passed through the FDA for approval before they can hit the market. This raises a concern for me... because if they do not have a real set point or end point for the amount of processing that can happen before a product is no longer all natural, then whose to say anything labeled all natural is actually natural at all... From my research it seems that the term "all natural" is extremely subjective. So on this blog I will give you our closest representation of what all natural is.

First off when I think of all natural I think of a mother breast feeding her baby, vs. feeding formula.
The advantages to breastfeeding are amazing. They include but are not limited to:

1. Due to the all the antibodies in mothers milk, breast fed babies have a stronger immune system.
2. Because breast milk is easily digestible, babies rarely have constipation issues.
3. Breast milk changes as the baby grows to meet their needs. It has the exact combination of proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and sugars needed for the human infant at various stages of his growth.
4. IQ levels are on average 8 points higher in breast fed babies than formula fed babies.

These are just a few of the awesome benefits that feeding natural breast milk has on an infant. Breast feeding not only is better for the baby but is extremely beneficial for the mother as well. Here are just a few of the benefits.

1. 20 calories per oz of breast milk are burned.
2. Women who nurse 6 months lessen their chance of pre-menopausal breast cancer.

Formula is usually made from whey and casein protein, vegetable oil as a fat source, lactose as a carbohydrate, some formulas use soybean as a protein source, a vitamin source, and other ingredients depending on the manufacturer. This is extremely concerning due to the fact that doctors do not recommend feeding cows milk until the baby is at least one year old, because they cannot absorb  or  break it down . I am not saying cows milk is bad, I am saying that if they cannot absorb it, then don't feed it. Also soy contains a huge amount of hormones and is not recommended to be fed to babies under one year of age.
Even though breastfeeding takes time and can be inconvenient, the benefits of taking the time to breast feed or relocate breast milk to a bottle is so much more beneficial in the long run!

Whether we are trying to loose weight, be healthy, get in shape, go to college, work full time, do the best for our kids, training for the olympics, raising an animal, ect... We have to sacrifice things to be able to achieve what we are striving for. You can't say I want to loose 20 pounds, but eat a milkshake and a hamburger everyday. Come on, I know you've all tried this.. I don't even need to tell you that is doesn't work. You had to eat less junk food and add more healthy natural fruits, veggies, lean meats, and water to loose the weight. It's the same with all natural products, we have to learn to work with them in their natural state.  Because when we start heating them to very high levels or adding chemicals to mix them up and make them easier to use, we destroy the properties that make them amazing and beneficial in the first place.
If the only sacrifices with natural products is a little more time, a little shaking or warming to use, compared to applying more, covering the problem, excessive dryness from alcohol and other chemicals, lowering the immune system which can lead to fungus or more serious sickness. I think we all can make the sacrifice now to prevent a hell of a lot of sacrifice later!
Especially when all natural products like mothers milk and unrefined coconut oil heal the skin, hair, and body. They do so much more than mask the problem, they heal from the inside out!
